CRAASH Barcelona is a 3-month accelerator programme that helps research teams and startups launch successful medical device, diagnostic and digital health innovations to improve health and patient care. It targets projects at TRL 3–6 that need to validate their problem–solution fit, business model and route to market, and to accelerate their path towards commercialisation and clinical practice. The programme combines intensive mentoring from experts at CIMIT (Boston), one of the most experienced health accelerators worldwide, with a structured journey in three phases. The validation phase focuses on customer discovery and development, personalised mentorship, and masterclasses on regulation, reimbursement, market access and competitive positioning. A European immersion phase exposes teams to key EU health innovation hubs, investors and industry partners, with dedicated sessions on fundraising and storytelling. Finally, a US immersion phase provides tailored interactions with mentors, investors and stakeholders in the Boston ecosystem. By the end of the programme, participants are expected to have: a validated value proposition with feedback from clinicians and other stakeholders; a refined business model and go-to-market strategy; a clearer regulatory and reimbursement roadmap; and increased investor readiness. The programme is delivered in hybrid format (online and onsite) and is open to EIC beneficiaries and Seal of Excellence holders, with specific conditions for teams from the BioRegion of Catalonia.
€20,000/ beneficiary. Free of charge for beneficiaries from the BioRegion of Catalonia; other EIC beneficiaries may access the service under standard programme conditions and subject to availability.
Applications are evaluated based on overall project quality, market opportunity and business potential, expected impact on patient care and healthcare systems, and the commitment and complementary skills of the team. The programme requires a significant time commitment during the 3-month period and is delivered in English, with hybrid activities and potential travel to European hubs and Boston. Priority access and specific financial conditions may apply to teams originating from or collaborating with the BioRegion of Catalonia.
