This service offers EIC Transition and EIC Accelerator awardees access to the specialised facilities to validate aquaculture, soilless, bioponics and microalgae-based technologies in realistic, pre-industrial conditions. EIC awardees can test their innovations using controlled-environment systems and industrial-grade equipment designed to simulate real operating environments beyond standard laboratory settings.
The service begins with a technical scoping phase to defi ne validation objectives, experimental protocols, success criteria, equipment needs and a practical testing roadmap. Based on this plan, implementation of a tailored validation campaign using the available aquaculture and soilless facilities. When additional equipment or consumables are required, procurement can be supported within the service budget to ensure an optimal testing setup.
Throughout implementation, awardees receive hands-on guidance from in-house experts specialised in aquaculture, bioponics and microalgae production systems. Support includes system setup, operational monitoring, measurement procedures, data quality assurance and structured interpretation sessions to translate results into actionable insights for technology optimisation.
After successful testing and result consolidation, the service facilitates access to relevant industry networks, enabling EIC awardees to explore follow-up opportunities for pilot deployment, scale-up or commercial partnerships. This service helps innovators bridge the gap between laboratory proof-of-concept and operational validation, reducing technical risk and accelerating the development of sustainable blue-economy solutions. Expected outcomes: Validation of aquaculture, soilless, bioponics or microalgae technologies under realistic, pre-industrial operating conditions; Generation of reliable performance data demonstrating functionality, efficiency and robustness beyond laboratory-scale testing; Reduced technical and operational risk prior to pilot deployment or scale-up; Increased readiness for transition from prototype to pilot or pre-commercial demonstration.
The cost will vary depending on the specifi city of the service required, indicatively the cost can range from €2500 - 30000€.
Access to this service is subject to technical screening, safety/compliance rules and facility availability, with any additional purchases dependent on budget/procurement, and industry connections shared only after successful completion (no proposal-writing support included).
