Service description

The Commercial Potential service supports research-based innovators in assessing and developing the commercial viability of their early-stage innovations and provides a comprehensive diagnostic and strategic planning framework to prepare innovations for market-driven development and scaling opportunities. This service is particularly relevant for Pathfinder and Transition teams exploring innovation opportunities, as well as Acceleration beneficiaries and Seal of Excellence holders seeking to define the commercial potential and value proposition of research-based innovations.

The service follows a seven-phase sequential process:

  1. Gap Analysis – Diagnostic assessment of internal capabilities, capacities, and innovation readiness to identify development needs

    1. Organisational Mapping – Review of organisational structures, operational procedures, and alignment with commercialisation objectives

    2. Market Analysis – Definition of go-to-market strategies and viable market entry pathways

    3. Competitive Landscape – Analysis of competitive positioning and market differentiation strategies

    4. IP Rights Management – Guidance on intellectual property frameworks, protection strategies, and freedom-to-operate assessments

    5. Market Validation – Testing market assumptions and validating commercial demand with potential customers

    6. Commercialisation Strategy – Alignment of intellectual property with go-to-market approaches and licensing frameworks to enhance valuation

Organisations receive strategic documentation, validated market insights, and a comprehensive commercialisation roadmap ready for acceleration or investment.
