Energy Conversion and Storage Systems: Validation and Optimization
CERIC - Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium
Service ID:
EP114S2This service supports EIC Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator Beneficiaries developing hydrogen technologies, fuel cells, electrolysers and battery systems. It enables targeted validation of materials, components and electrochemical devices accelerating prototype refinement, providing at the same time technical evidence for partnerships and investment discussions. The first phase of the service is a free initial consultation and feasibility assessment, during which CERIC experts analyse the Beneficiary’s technical challenges, evaluate the state of development and recommend the most relevant experimental approaches, creating an ad-hoc workflow to test and validated the Beneficiary materials and devices. The implementation phase combines advanced methods such as spectroscopy, diffraction, microscopy for the characterisation of materials, catalysts, membranes, electrodes and interfaces, as well as electrochemical testing of half-cells, single cells and cell stacks. Beneficiaries can access fuel-cell and electrolyser testing on efficiency, durability, degradation behaviour, and stress evaluation under controlled conditions.. At the end of the service, Beneficiaries receive a report summarising performance metrics, degradation pathways, limiting factors or optimisation steps according to the Beneficiary´s request. Certification-related constraints or safety considerations for energy storage materials and systems may also be addressed. More information about the service: https://www.ceric-eric.eu/industry/services-for-eic-beneficiaries/.
The service is free of charge for the first phase and full price for the second phase (implementation) calculated according to the type of instruments and the full cost of the support requested: €500-5.200 daily (8 hours). To determine the exact cost of the service according to the Beneficiary's needs, please contact: ilo@ceric-eric.eu. Open access for non-proprietary research is free of charge, provided the results are made publicly available after a three years embargo period.
Beneficiaries can enrol on a rolling basis, but sample safety and the availability of the Facility must be confirmed before acceptance (according to the operational schedule of the Facility). Services are provided via remote access (mail-in of samples), though other modes are also available, depending on the EIC beneficiary’s needs.
