Service description

This service consists of free training activities on intellectual property protection and enforcement in China. It is intended for beneficiaries that need practical capacity-building. The target users include individual companies, cohorts of companies, and intermediary organisations supporting companies with business interests in China. The service can address cross-sector topics or be adapted to sector-specific needs, including industry-focused questions and practical business situations such as licensing, partner selection, trade fairs, market entry, and enforcement strategy. A standard session is usually around 45 minutes followed by a Q&A session, while longer and more in-depth workshops can also be organised. The goal of the service is to improve beneficiaries’ ability to anticipate IP risks, understand available protection and enforcement mechanisms, and integrate IP considerations into business decisions. The service may be delivered in four phases: needs scoping; agenda design; training delivery; and Q&A/follow-up signposting. Activities include presentations, practical examples (case studies), question handling, and thematic sessions on registration, enforcement, commercialisation, and sector-specific risks. The expected outcome is that participants strengthen their operational understanding of IP in China-related markets and are better prepared to take preventive and strategic action. The service is implemented on-site in Europe or China, or in webinar/hybrid format. Delivery involves the Helpdesk team together with a network of external IP lawyers and patent attorneys.
