For deep tech founders, securing funding and navigating commercialisation are often the hardest parts. Research shows that two-thirds of scientific founders lack confidence in their business skills. The 1up! Deep Tech Business Strategy Mentoring is a highly individualised service designed to turn innovative research into sustainable, investment-ready ventures. Built on experience with over 200 science-based startups, the service offers a 3-step pathway: Step 1: Assessment of the state-of-the-art. Step 2: Mentoring Roadmap Creation. Step 3: Targeted 1:1 Mentoring – Expert-led hands-on guidance covering Business model optimisation and pitch deck review, Commercialisation roadmap, Techno-economic analysis, and Leadership and negotiations for securing partnerships and investment. Mentoring integrates specific support for women founders and is targeted at biotechnology, health, and environmental innovations. The programme helps founders overcome uncertainty, engage confidently with investors, and bring their deep tech solutions to market faster. The expected outcome of the service is for scientific founders to gain confidence in investor negotiations and develop a clear, actionable roadmap to bring their deep-tech innovation from lab to market, therefore derisking their startup.
