R&D support for the analysis of Bio2Skin behaviour across different coating thicknesses and applications on different liners for the pilot scale production line
Dotcoat Europe GmbH
Service ID:
EP382S2Dotcoat Europe GmbH provides dedicated R&D support services for the systematic analysis of novel coating materials and substrate combinations on pilot-scale production equipment. This service is specifically designed for EIC-funded companies that have developed an innovative coating material or functional layer and require expert process engineering support to characterise and optimise its behaviour under real production conditions. This service encompasses the structured analysis of the EIC beneficiary's coating material across a defined matrix of coating thicknesses and liner substrate combinations on Dotcoat's pilot-scale coating and lamination line. The programme includes: design of experiments (DoE) covering relevant thickness ranges and liner types, execution of systematic coating trials on pilot equipment replicating industrial process conditions, measurement and documentation of key performance parameters (adhesion, uniformity, layer integrity, release behaviour), identification of optimal process windows (temperature, speed, application weight), and delivery of a structured technical report with actionable recommendations for scale-up. Dotcoat Europe's process engineers provide full technical guidance throughout the programme, drawing on deep application expertise in solvent-free hotmelt coating technologies including slot die, gravure roll, and flat-bed lamination processes. All trials are conducted under non-disclosure agreement. Sample materials and substrates are handled confidentially and returned or disposed of upon request. This service directly addresses the critical gap between laboratory-scale material development and reliable pilot-scale production, providing the EIC beneficiary with the validated process data required to advance towards industrial manufacturing readiness.
This R&D support service is offered at a day rate of €1,500 per day. The total cost depends on the scope and complexity of the testing programme agreed upon with the EIC beneficiary prior to commencement. EIC beneficiaries receive a minimum discount of 20% on the standard day rate, resulting in an effective rate of €1,200 per day. In the event that the EIC beneficiary subsequently purchases a Dotcoat Europe laboratory or production system, 50% of the total amount invoiced for R&D support services will be credited against the machine purchase price.
Trial scheduling is subject to equipment availability at Dotcoat Europe's facility in Lake Constance, Germany. Availability is typically confirmed within four weeks of signed agreement. R&D support programmes can be initiated on a rolling basis throughout the year, with no fixed application deadlines. The 50% credit towards a subsequent machine purchase is valid for 24 months from the date of the final service invoice.
