Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), ecodesign, impacts measurement and reduction

This service supports EIC Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator beneficiaries in assessing, measuring and reducing the environmental impacts of their innovations throughout the product, process or service life cycle. The service is directed toward innovations seeking to strengthen sustainability performance, improve market acceptance and prepare for regulatory and investor expectations. Depending on the beneficiary's maturity level and objectives, the service may include Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon footprint assessment, environmental hotspot identification, ecodesign recommendations, circularity analysis, resource efficiency assessment, and support in defining environmental performance indicators. The service can also contribute to sustainability strategy development, environmental claims substantiation, ESG reporting preparation, and alignment with relevant European regulatory frameworks. The methodology combines data collection and modelling, environmental impact assessment, technical analysis, stakeholder workshops and action plan development. Outputs may include an LCA report, environmental impact dashboard, hotspot analysis, ecodesign roadmap, carbon reduction scenarios and recommendations for integrating sustainability into product development and commercialisation strategies. At the end of the service, beneficiaries will have a clear understanding of the environmental impacts associated with their innovation, identified improvement opportunities, and a practical roadmap to reduce impacts, strengthen sustainability credentials and support market deployment, fundraising and scale-up activities.
