1. Early-stage startups (at TRL 1-3) applying for EIC Pathfinder programme: At the early stages of innovation, startups often have an exciting concept, but face questions like ""Is my idea or concept unique? Does it have market potential? Can it stand out from competitors? And is it even patentable?”. At early stage, GreyB helps start-up to:

  • Assessing Technical Novelty: GreyB’s services begin by analysing the technical aspects of your concept, determining if it is unique and patentable to ensure it has the potential for protection and entering the market.
  • Exploring Market Applications: Once a technical uniqueness of the concept is established, we help to explore, and validate its potential applications, and target customer segments. We also provide insights on trends, and factors that could support, or hinder your concept’s growth in the market, and in the subsequent stages of the innovation cycle.
  • Mapping Competition: To advance, startups need to understand the competitive landscape. We identify competing and complementary technologies, products, and players to help clarify your position and differentiate your idea. If a startup is ready for the next step, GreyB can also connect you with prototyping partners to keep the momentum going.

2. Start-ups at TRL 4 – 6, and applying for EIC Transition programme: After a concept becomes a prototype, it often requires further refinement to meet customer expectations and avoid IP risks. GreyB supports start-ups in refining the prototype, and building product positioning by: 

  • Identifying IP Risks: At this stage, start-ups fear of unknowingly infringing on existing patents. GreyB conducts a Freedom to Operate (FTO) analysis to ensure the prototype is free of infringement issues. If any risks are found, we advise to resolve them -either by checking the validity of the infringer’s patent, redesigning features, or other solutions.
  • Gathering Industry Feedback: GreyB gathers feedback from industry experts and potential customers through surveys and interviews. This helps refine the prototype to align with market needs.
  • When the prototype is ready for pilot testing, and start-ups plan for growth, or a potential exit, GreyB provides: i) Product Positioning: We help to position your product effectively by studying competitors and the industry landscape, allowing you to finetune your messaging and claims, and ii) Licencing & Technology Transfer: If startup is considering an exit, we help to identify potential licensing or technology acquisition partners and create compelling pitch materials for IP licencing or technology transfer.
     

3. Start-ups at TLR 6 – 9 and applying under EIC Accelerator programme: Start-ups nearing full market readiness often face challenges with scaling, analysing competitors, finding a right-fit manufacturing partners in unknown geographies, or expanding into new customer segments. At this stage, GreyB supports your growth by: 

  • Identifying and Shortlisting Key Partners: We help to find and evaluate essential partners like suppliers, contract manufacturers, and supply chain experts for logistics, quality control, and other crucial partners for scaling the operations.
  • Developing Expansion Strategies: By uncovering competitor activities, identifying new use cases, applications, or customer segment through incremental innovations, and providing real-world examples relevant to your challenges. This helps you build a strong business model and enter new markets confidently.
  • GreyB partners with you throughout the EIC programmes — Pathfinder, Transition, and Accelerator — guiding you to secure funding, and make informed business decisions at each stage, with confidence.

Financial requirements

DISCOVERY ASSESSMENTS: Fixed Scope projects with flat project cost - €5000 to €25,000.
BANK OF HOURS: Pre-purchase analyst hours in advance at discounted rate.
PAY Per PROJECT: Effort hours calculated for each project based on scope - €60/Hour.
