VTT offers a one-stop-shop for startups ready to scale. Our “Lab-to-pilot” services guide you from early-stage R&D to pilot manufacturing and industrial technology transfer—seamlessly and securely. We provide access to versatile piloting infrastructure including chemical and biochemical processing, cleanrooms and stable processes with PDKs in an advanced semiconductor and quantum infrastructure. Our technologies span from biobased materials and chemicals to 2D materials and post-CMOS integration to integrated photonics, MEMS, RF, superconducting circuits, and emerging power electronics. Our ISO-certified quality and environmental systems ensure your prototypes are built to the highest standards. Startups benefit from our deep ecosystem ties across Europe, and start-up friendly IP terms. We don’t compete—we collaborate. With VTT, you get more than a pilot. You get a launchpad! The service process begins with a detailed assessment of the development and scale-up needs and the present state of the technology. VTT experts will then devise and propose a piloting campaign using most suitable infrastructure from vast arsenal of VTT piloting facilities. The campaign plan is typically including technical go/no-go gates and allows for flexible and robust de-risked execution. Needed process and product analyses and performance tests are included in the campaign plan. Upon acceptance of the proposed plan by the customer, VTT commences preparatory works which may include modification of the manufacturing facilities and procurement of necessary raw materials. This is followed by experimental piloting trials carried out by VTT according to the project plan, Customers are welcome to VTT premises to gain first-hand insights from the scale-up work, and VTT maintains active communication with customer throughout the process. All produced samples, prototypes and materials along with detailed technical report are then provided to the customer as deliverables. Piloting projects at VTT can span from several days to several months depending on the scope.
Piloting services costs €2000 – €10,000 per day. Project pricing separately case by case depending on specified project content.
