TECH AWARDS – Offline Networking & Matchmaking for EIC startups, with Continued Access to the WLOUNGE Business Ecosystem

Service description

Since 2023, the Tech Awards by WLOUNGE have been delivered as a high-impact offline networking and matchmaking service supporting the EIC’s objectives to scale deep-tech innovation, mobilise private and public capital, and strengthen ecosystem connectivity across Europe. The annual Gala has established itself as a trusted, outcome-oriented platform connecting EIC beneficiaries, investors, corporates, research institutions, and public stakeholders in a single, high-quality physical format.

The Tech Awards have received over 1,000 startup applications globally since their implementation, averaging 350+ applications per year, including approximately 80 EIC beneficiaries per-edition from Pathfinder, Transition, Accelerator, Seal of Excellence, and STEP-related pipelines. Each edition selected 30 finalists and 10 winners across strategic technology categories aligned with EIC priorities, such as deep tech, health, AI, corporate R&D innovation, fintech, impact, diversity, and education. Evaluation was conducted by 20–43 senior jury members per edition, including venture capital funds, corporate venture arms, family offices, and innovation leaders. Each edition convened 400–500+ on-site participants, enabling direct, face-to-face access to investors, corporates, public buyers, R&D partners, and policy stakeholders. Beyond visibility, the service delivered measurable outcomes for EIC beneficiaries, including access to private capital, corporate partnerships, Customer Zero and pilot opportunities, and international exposure. Structured matchmaking, curated 1:1 meetings, side events, masterclasses, and follow-up workshops ensured engagement beyond symbolic recognition.

Finalists and winners benefit from continued access to the WLOUNGE ecosystem, including business development support, investor and corporate matching, visibility amplification, and follow-on growth opportunities. As an EIC-aligned service, the Tech Awards contribute directly to success-story creation, market access, and capital mobilisation for European deep-tech scale-ups.
