If an EIC beneficiary/Seal of Excellence holder have developed a technical solution that needs to be protected from competitors, then a patent may be a valuable innovation asset. If granted, a patent will give the EIC beneficiary/Seal of Excellence holder the right to prevent others from making, offering, putting on the market, using or importing the invention without permission. The patent application process begins with an initial meeting with the inventors to understand the inventions technical details, novel features and commercial objectives. Following this, a preliminary prior art search is conducted to identify existing patents and publications, which may influence the possible scope of protection. The next phase is the drafting process, where the patent attorney drafts the application and defines the scope of the invention through a set of claims. The final draft is reviewed by the inventors for alignment before submission to the Patent Office. During the prosecution of the patent application, Zacco will analyse any objections from the Patent Office, and provide recommendations for response aligned with the company IP strategy. Zacco offers a complete IP-package from our expert European Patent Attorneys comprising strategy, patent drafting, prosecution, opposition, appeal and litigation support.
