Service description

One of the hurdles companies and research groups face when entering the quantum technology field is the significant investment needed to set up their own facilities. Building the necessary infrastructure takes time, and there is a persistent shortage of experienced staff. To address these challenges, kiutra offers a comprehensive cryogenic measurement service for the characterization of physical properties for customer devices or samples at kelvin and millikelvin temperatures. This service is targeted towards companies and research groups entering the quantum technology field with limited measurement capabilities or which have a measurement demand that exceeds the capacity or capabilities of their own facilities. Within this measurement service, kiutra guides the customer through the sample preparation process, providing or evaluating suitable sample holders and conducting a pre-defined measurement protocol on the customer's sample or device. Upon completion, the customer receives a concise measurement report along with the RAW data and detailed instrument information. The service is offered in two delivery modes: (i) Standard measurements follow a fixed protocol with minor customisation options. Currently available measurements include low-temperature resistivity, critical current, I-V curves, superconducting resonator spectroscopy, RF transmission, and low-temperature sensor calibration. (ii) Custom measurements are available for requirements that cannot be met by the standard offering. The customer’s requirements are analysed in an initial call by kiutra’s quantum engineers and experts and the feasibility is evaluated. Once the scope of the project is clarified, kiutra’s experts start preparing the measurement environment, including the setup and integration of any additional room temperature equipment and the preparation of custom measurement scripts. Finally, once the measurement is fully prepared, the customer is invited to visit kiutra and attend the measurement in kiutra’s service area. If the customer requires further measurements of the same type, kiutra will evaluate if a fixed measurement service can be established for future measurements. kiutra is committed to expanding and enhancing its measurement capabilities to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Financial requirements

This service is offered at a fixed quoted price, determined by the number of samples, the specific measurement configuration, and the level of customisation required. The initial call and first assessment are offered free of charge. For standard measurements, the price for a single measurement ranges from 980 € to 3.500 €. For custom measurements, service charges start at 2.000 €, including a one-time setup fee. Repeated measurements conducted under the same protocol are offered at a fixed price without additional setup costs. Multiple measurements and/or samples can be bundled to provide more cost-effective solutions for customers with higher measurement demand. The service can be purchased via credit bundles of 10.000, 20.000, or 50.000 credits, where 1 credit corresponds to 1 €.
