This service supports EIC beneficiaries who require reliable contract biomanufacturing capacity to produce microbial biomass, broth, or fermentation-derived products at pilot and demonstration scale. The focus is on the reproducible execution of established bioprocesses, rather than on early-stage process development, in order to supply material for application testing, regulatory studies, sampling, or initial market entry. We operate a flexible range of fermentation assets, with more than 35 m≥ of in-house fermentation capacity, and can accommodate aerobic and micro-aerophilic processes using a wide variety of microorganisms, including sporogenic species. When larger volumes are required, we work with partner contract manufacturing organisations to provide production in the 30-150 m≥ scale range. This allows EIC beneficiaries to access industrially relevant quantities of product without the need to invest in dedicated manufacturing assets. Alongside fermentation, we operate industrial downstream processing equipment, enabling separation, concentration and purification operations that reflect conditions typically used in manufacturing environments. Process parameters are implemented based on the customer's existing process description, with adjustments made only as needed to ensure safe and stable operation at the chosen scale. The main outcome of this service is the supply of product manufactured under controlled, industrially relevant conditions, together with documentation of the production campaign. This helps EIC beneficiaries demonstrate process viability, generate material for further testing, and support progression toward larger-scale commercial manufacturing.
