Service description

An ongoing service providing engineering support for the design and prototyping of biomechatronic devices. The service includes comprehensive design, prototyping, testing, and measurement of state-of-the-art biomechatronic and electronic devices, including textronic components and devices. The service includes 3D printing of metal and polymer components using a range of technologies: DMLS, SLS, DLP, FDM/FFF to produce models, prototypes or final parts for use in devices and a wide range of different engineering applications. The service covers the entire prototyping process, from a 3D scanning system for reverse engineering, 3D modelling, and design, powder selection, metal powder production (with a gas atomiser), rapid prototyping, low-volume production, vacuum furnace for heat treatment of printed metal elements, sandblasting and ultrasonic cleaning for post-processing. The service provides the EIC recipient with multiple versions of a customised component for further testing and evaluation. It enables the optimisation of equipment design, testing, and evaluation of drives and electromechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical systems. The service allows EIC beneficiaries to explore interactions between robots, biomanipulators and humans in biomechatronic and medical applications. It is also possible to carry out preliminary electromagnetic compatibility tests, which allow early detection of errors in technological solutions in devices. EIC beneficiaries will also be able to perform strength tests on various materials and components. The service delivery mode can be online, offline, hybrid or onsite. Consultancy services will be provided online. The duration of the service will be tailored to the needs of each EIC beneficiary.
