Technical Due Diligence - Independent Readiness and Risk Assessment

Italbiotec srl Società Benefit

Italy

Service ID:

EP880S2
Service description

This individualised service supports EIC beneficiaries in obtaining an independent and structured assessment of their technological, industrial and commercial maturity. It is designed to help companies critically evaluate their development stage, identify key risks and strengthen their strategic positioning before major milestones such as scale-up, partnerships or fundraising. The service is structured in two phases. First, a “readiness snapshot” of the innovation is performed using recognised maturity frameworks (e.g., TRL, CRL and, where relevant, BioManufacturing and IP readiness levels). The outcome is a radar profile describing the current stage of development, supported by a qualitative justification of each dimension. Second, a structured assessment is conducted across core criteria: technical feasibility, technological competitiveness versus state of the art, industrial scalability, cost-effectiveness at scale, IP positioning, and coherence between development roadmap and funding objectives. Key elements such as value proposition, market positioning and operational risks are also reviewed. Each dimension is evaluated through a scoring framework to highlight strengths, weaknesses, development gaps and critical risk factors. The final report includes risk analysis, SWOT and clear, prioritised recommendations on next steps, such as additional technical validation, scale-up testing, techno-economic assessment, market analysis or IP strengthening. The assessment supports informed strategic decisions, reduces execution risk and reinforces credibility in discussions with investors and industrial partners. The service is delivered by in-house experts in industrial biotechnology and innovation assessment.
