Service description

Before you file, you need to know what's already out there and what's genuinely yours to protect. Lightbringer's patent mining service gives EIC Pathfinder and EIC Transition innovators a structured, facilitated process to surface your team's inventive concepts, assess their novelty, and prioritise which ideas are worth protecting.

The process begins with a collaborative online workshop led by our patent specialists, designed to extract patentable insights from your technology, product, and research pipeline, including ideas your team may not have recognised as protectable. Each identified concept is then assessed through a professional novelty search, giving you a clear picture of the prior art landscape before committing to filing.

The output is a ranked IP opportunity map: which inventions have the strongest novelty signal, which face crowded prior art, and what filing sequence makes strategic sense. This is the intelligence layer that makes every subsequent patent filing more targeted and cost-effective.  No legal jargon. No guesswork. Just a clear, actionable view of your IP position.

Who this is for: EIC Pathfinder and EIC Transition teams at any stage, especially pre-filing or pre-Series A, where establishing a credible IP foundation matters.  Delivery: Project-based. Preparation + online workshop (half-day) + novelty search report delivered within 4 to 6 weeks.  Includes: Facilitated session, invention disclosure review, first novelty search at no cost, additional novelty searches at €999 per technology area, written IP opportunity report.

Disclaimer related to service

Service delivery runs approximately 4 to 6 weeks from signed agreement to final report. This includes a preparation phase, a half-day online workshop, and post-session novelty searches. Timelines may vary depending on the number of invention concepts identified and the complexity of the technology area. The novelty search component constitutes a prior art review and does not constitute a formal patentability opinion or legal advice.
