Service description

Mbryonics offers EIC beneficiaries access to PakPIC, our comprehensive in-house photonics packaging services and facilities. PakPIC’s expert engineers will help you to design Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) that are purpose-built for production and packaging at scale. With your supplied PICs, we will design and fabricate mechanical housing, mount and connect each chip with suitable materials for your application, and couple them to I/O fiber arrays with sub-micron precision and ultra-high repeatability. We can further support your supply-chain development, providing access to specialist electronic, opto-electronic, and interposer fabricators, PCB manufacturers, and fiber array specialists. PakPIC has extensive expertise in producing systems suitable for vacuum through our core business in space communications, and our systems are entirely compatible with quantum photonic technologies. We are refining our service offering for PICs in cryogenic environments and aim to offer this on a commercial basis in 2025. Applications for PakPIC services are offered on a rolling basis, subject to capacity, and are suitable for all companies and researchers developing photonic systems from TRL 1-9, producing batches in units of 5-50; larger-scale production runs will become accessible in late 2025. A full range of services is available on request. PakPIC staff can advise on PIC design and/or provide detailed design rules as preferred, and services can be engaged at any point in the design-and-build process.
