Biocat is the life sciences and healthcare cluster organization of Catalonia and a non-profit foundation whose mission is to maximize the economic and social impact of the BioRegion. It acts as a catalyst for the ecosystem by connecting research, startups, industry, investors and the healthcare system, with a specific focus on supporting technology transfer, venture creation and the adoption of innovation in clinical practice. Biocat designs and runs specialized acceleration programs, such as CRAASH Barcelona and ATMP Catalyst, to help research teams and startups validate their technologies, strengthen their business models and access partners, infrastructure and capital. It also promotes international positioning of the BioRegion, generates strategic market intelligence and works closely with public authorities and hospitals to foster high-value innovation in areas such as medtech, digital health and advanced therapies. Through these activities, Biocat provides EIC beneficiaries with access to a mature innovation ecosystem, high-level mentors and international networks, helping them to reduce risk, accelerate time-to-market and increase the chances of successful commercial and clinical implementation.
