Product-Level AI Integration and EU AI Act Readiness
Provided by Runios IT Ltd. · Hungary
Service description
Every investor and customer now asks the same question: "Where is the AI in your product?" Most founders answer with a chatbot bolted on the side. That is the wrong answer, and under the EU AI Act it can be an expensive one.
This service gives the beneficiary a clear, defensible answer. Rollout IT's AI product experts spend 3 to 6 weeks inside the product: they learn the domain, the users, the data and the architecture, then determine where AI creates real value, where it creates risk, and where it should not be used at all. The result is a concrete AI integration roadmap the founding team can execute, fund and explain to a board.
Unlike organisation-level AI strategy work, which addresses internal operations and processes, this service is about the product itself: the features users will pay for, the models behind them, the data that feeds them, and the regulatory obligations that come with them.
The work covers four dimensions. Product fit: which user problems are solved better by generative AI, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation or classic machine learning, and which are better solved without AI. Feasibility: data readiness, quality and access, model strategy (build vs buy, hosted vs open-weight, EU data residency), integration points in the existing stack, and inference cost per user. Trust: how the product avoids hallucination, cites its sources, evaluates its own outputs and fails safely. Compliance: risk classification under the EU AI Act (prohibited, high-risk, limited-risk or general-purpose obligations), transparency and human-oversight duties, GDPR and data governance, sector rules such as DORA for financial products or education-specific data protection, and the documentation the beneficiary will need for a conformity assessment or an investor due diligence.
The team combines senior AI engineers who have shipped RAG assistants, agentic systems and custom ML models in EdTech, FinTech and higher education with product strategists who translate technical options into decisions a founder can take.
What the beneficiary receives
The full programme runs 6 weeks in three phases. A 3-week Lite version covers one core AI feature area with the same method.
Weeks 1-2, Product and Data Discovery: structured workshops with founders, product and engineering leads; read-only review of the codebase, data schemas and any current or planned AI components; user, market and competitor context. Deliverable: a discovery report with an honest assessment of the product's AI maturity, data readiness and technical constraints.
Weeks 3-4, Opportunity and Risk Mapping: an AI opportunity map scoring every candidate feature on user value, technical feasibility, cost and regulatory exposure; an EU AI Act risk classification memo per feature with the corresponding obligations checklist; GDPR and data-governance notes; a trust and accuracy design covering grounding, evaluation, monitoring and fallback behaviour. Deliverable: a prioritised shortlist of AI features with a go / no-go recommendation for each.
Weeks 5-6, Roadmap and Architecture: a 12-month AI integration roadmap in phases with milestones and team requirements; target architecture and model strategy; build-vs-buy recommendation per component; inference cost and unit-economics model; a specified and estimated backlog for the first phase, ready for an internal team or an external developer; and an investor-ready AI narrative (one-page summary plus slide) the beneficiary can use in fundraising and grant reporting. Deliverable: the complete roadmap package, presented to the founding team in a closing session.
The beneficiary owns all documents, diagrams and estimates and is free to implement the roadmap with any partner.
Remote-first with optional on-site workshops in the EU. Delivered in English or Hungarian. Requires a signed NDA, read-only access to the codebase and representative data samples, and 2 to 4 hours per week from a founder and a technical lead. Findings are shared continuously in a joint workspace; a final presentation closes the engagement.
Important Limitations
The service provides technical and product recommendations and a regulatory readiness assessment; it is not legal advice and does not replace a formal legal opinion, conformity assessment or notified-body procedure where the EU AI Act requires one. It does not guarantee commercial success, regulatory approval, funding, investment or specific financial returns. Implementation services, third-party licences and infrastructure costs are not included unless explicitly agreed separately.
Application Requirements
Applicants must review the "Terms of Engagement for EIC beneficiaries" before submitting an application and provide consent for the use of personal information. A 30-minute scoping call precedes any fixed-price quotation.
