This service covers all aspects concerning trademarks and other distinctive signs (domain names, geographical indications, designations of origin) and is aimed at all EIC beneficiaries wishing to protect a distinctive sign. SIB’s trademark attorneys can assist clients directly for Italian trademarks, EU trademarks and international trademarks and can assist clients concerning all other countries by collaborating with foreign associates. Services include, i) Trademark searches on international databases prior to registration to ensure that it is not liable to cause conflicts and watch services after registration to stop attempts at usurpation, unfair competition and counterfeiting – such as the registration by third parties of identical or confusingly similar trademarks. ii) Preparing and filing Italian trademark applications and renewals with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (IPTO). iii) Preparing and filing European Union trademark applications and renewals with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). iv) Preparing and filing international trademark applications and renewals with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). v) Domain name registrations and renewals. vi) Trademark oppositions, actions for declaration of invalidity and revocations. vii) Trademark valuations. viii) Advice on due diligence for acquisitions including intellectual property rights, drafting trademark licence and assignment agreements, procedures in which trademarks can constitute an element for obtaining financial or fiscal benefits. ix) Recordals (assignments, licences, mergers, security rights, changes of name, changes of address, incorporations, surrenders). x) Development of a corporate trademark strategy.
