Cleantech Finance Product Development is a collaborative service where Solve Associates works closely with cleantech developers, founders, and project sponsors to design, test, and implement financeable offerings for assets and infrastructure. The goal is to jointly translate a technology or deployment concept into a repeatable, bankable project- or asset-finance product, enabling customer adoption through no-money-down or pay-as-you-save structures. The work begins by co-defining the financing architecture, including asset ownership, customer payment mechanisms, incentive and subsidy treatment, and the allocation of technical, credit, and performance risk. Structures are developed to support both single projects and aggregated portfolios, with an emphasis on scalability, capital efficiency, and long-term deployability. Together with the client, we develop financial structures and spreadsheet models that reflect real operating conditions. This includes project- and portfolio-level cash flows, debt sizing and repayment profiles, equity participation, incentive monetization, and sensitivity and scenario analyses. In parallel, we co-design the finance product itself, which may take the form of a lease, service agreement, energy-as-a-service model, or programmatic facility. Work includes pricing logic, underwriting criteria, and operational assumptions. Clients receive execution-ready deliverables, including institutional-grade financial models, capital stack and cash-flow diagrams, draft term sheets, and risk and responsibility matrices. The service also supports clients through fundraising and financial close, assisting with diligence, structuring refinements, as well as alignment with lenders, public finance institutions, tax credit counterparties, and investors. Following close, support can extend into the operating period, assisting with portfolio monitoring, covenant tracking, and structure optimization as the capital deployment scales.
