Access to open and secure airspace for flight tests

UAS Denmark Test Center

Denmark

Service ID:

EP62S2
Service description
An ongoing service for access to open spaces and testbeds targeting all EIC beneficiaries. This service aims to provide an open and secure space for flight testing for technologies that are ready for field tests. UAS Denmark Test Center strives to offer the best possible conditions for developing, testing, demonstrating, and training EIC beneficiaries’ UAS or related technologies in the 1900 km2 segregated airspace (400 km2 over land and 1500 km2 over sea). These conditions are ideal for testing land based as well as maritime applications. Being based in a small but fully operational, international airport, UAS Denmark Test Center offers a realistic operating environment alongside manned aviation. Danish as well as international companies, research institutions and the Danish Defence work alongside each other in this test centre. There are more than 10 unmanned flight operations per working day on average throughout the year. The types of flights include performing simple VLOS operations in the airspace. VLOS/BVLOS operations can take up to a height of 3000 feet and up to a distance of more than 70 km from the airport. Operations to higher heights and further distances can be accommodated on special arrangements, e.g., EIC beneficiaries will have easy access to the adjacent military airspace with unlimited altitude. Operations are possible with the small and large UAS, which requires a paved runway for take-off/landing. UAS Denmark Test Center already welcomes a broad spectrum of UAS related operations and technologies, e.g., platforms, payloads, C-UAS (radar systems etc.), software and AI, Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) development, logistic concepts, components and even Urban Air Mobility (UAM).
