Prototyping & PoC service

Product Design and Prototyping

Provided by Units · France

Service description

This service supports teams turning a product direction into a working, tested design, whether the product is digital, physical, or both. Units leads concept exploration and ergonomics decisions for physical products, handling, posture, workflow fit, safety, manufacturability, and structures user journeys and interface architecture for digital products, then expresses each in the right level of prototype, from physical mockups and 3D prints to interactive Figma prototypes and mixed hardware and UI setups. Concepts and prototypes are reviewed and tested with your team, end users, operators, or clinicians when relevant, typically across two to three rounds, to converge on a direction your team can engineer or develop with confidence. The service includes handoff support so design intent survives implementation. Key deliverables include: (i) Concept and Architecture, design directions, UX and UI structure, or ergonomics decisions depending on product type; (ii) Prototype Set, physical mockups, 3D prints, or interactive Figma prototypes; and (iii) Selected Direction and Handoff Pack, refined concept, specs, and integration follow up notes.

This service is typically structured as 4 week phases, repeated as needed to explore concepts, prototype, and validate with users. Most collaborations run 6 to 12 months, depending on prototype depth, test scheduling, interview access, and engineering or development readiness. Deadlines are agreed at kick off and updated at the start of each phase. This service does not replace regulatory or clinical trial activities and does not include grant writing, proposal drafting, or EU project management. Development work, prototype fabrication, and external testing costs are excluded unless agreed upfront.
