Service description

An ongoing service for consultation and mentoring targeting all EIC beneficiaries. The service activities are performed by WSL business coaches (BUCs), dotted throughout Wallonia and Brussels regions (Belgium). These coaches are engineering specialists with entrepreneurial experience. They blend their knowledge of the local environment with their sector-specific expertise in their day-to-day roles. The trusted relationships developed over time between BUCs and business leaders are central to WSL’s added value. This service is articulated around a wide range of unique and innovative tools developed by WSL: 1) MatMaX™: This tool valuates and measures both technology and market product maturity and permits to define annual objectives, strategy, and key milestones to support researchers and innovators during their company first steps of development and its growth (scale up phase). 2) Wiskli™: This tool is a virtual platform that helps EIC beneficiaries to connect stimulate and exchange practices among young entrepreneurs. This service will provide the following positive impact for EIC beneficiaries activities: a) Scaling companies to become global deep tech leaders: through personalised coaching/mentoring, WSL supports researchers and innovators to grow their company significantly; b) Attracting investments into European deep tech: WSL benefit from international network of investors willing to invest in promising deep tech companies as well as local investment facilitation (Soft Landing Programme); and c) Connecting to the market: WSL benefits from privileged accesses to the defence market and rich Health ecosystem in Belgium to support both innovation value chain. Business Coaches are technical experts with entrepreneurship backgrounds so that they can provide a full lifetime experience to EIC beneficiaries. The mode of implementation is hybrid. Although WSL consider that presential meetings first are essential to build trust in the primary stage of the collaboration.

Disclaimer related to service

The costs cover the provision of a set of advisory and support services. This is a closed envelope that corresponds on average to 6 (six) hours per month. This amount will be invoiced at the beginning of the "WSL C&M" mission and will be payable in 2 (two) parts: the first part following the Kick-off meeting organised between the EIC beneficiary and WSL in order to begin the “WSL C&M” mission, and the second 6 (six) months later. In addition, WSL can offer other services requested by the EIC beneficiaries that are not included in the fixed price package WSL C&M (e.g., use of logistics services of the WSL business center).
