Service ID:

EP289S3
Service description

A six‑ to nine‑month intervention for research and team leaders in research organisations. The programme provides tailored tools, metrics, and strategic insights to assess and enhance territorial sustainability, equity, and resilience, supporting place-based development, green and circular transitions, and inclusive innovation ecosystems.
The service is implemented in the following phases:
A) Phase 1: begins with a one-day (or two half-day) hybrid workshop led by expert facilitators to map stakeholders, territorial challenges, and impact domains (social cohesion, economic resilience, governance, and demographic change).
B) Phase 2: delivers desk-based mapping and indicator design, including policy-aligned metrics for pre- and post-impact analysis (ESPON, OECD Wellbeing, EU SDG frameworks), as well as territorial diagnostics.
C) Phase 3: applies monitoring - dynamic assessment of economic structures, labour markets, digital/green transition readiness, and innovation system linkages. D) Phase 4: focuses on evaluation and co‑design, drafting operational recommendations, governance arrangements and investment priorities, validated in a final implementation discussion with EIC beneficiaries. Targeted at research programmes, team leaders, regional authorities and innovation units, the service yields a concise set of tailored indicators, a monitoring framework, territorial diagnostics and an actionable roadmap for policy and investment. The service delivery is hybrid, expert-led (economists, territorial planners, social analysts), and iterative, combining participatory workshops, desk analysis, and co-design to ensure practical, policy-coherent outcomes. The impact assessment is performed through qualitative and quantitative evaluation. We also adopt foresight methodologies to outline potential long-term scenarios for innovation in ecosystems by checking parameters related to territorial and social foresight, economic scenarios, technological scenarios, and resource scarcity.
