For years, The George Washington University Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (GW OIE) has led Lean Startup training within the United States and around the world. The U.S. National Science Foundation has deemed Lean Startup training as the most effective methodology for innovation ecosystem building. The curricula promote techniques used to identify customers, validate value propositions, and build successful business models for commercialisation. GW’s efforts have resulted in over 1,500 startup teams trained, over 200 mentors and instructors trained, over 350 new ventures started, and over $1.4 billion in follow-on funding raised, including research grants and venture financing. Additionally, GW has a global footprint. GW OIE has partnered with the United States Department of State (DOS), the World Bank Group (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to conduct over 45 international programmes with teams from Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Georgia, India, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Sudan. GW's curriculum is tailored to audiences interested in either entering the U.S. market, or in applying commercialisation methods in their home markets.
