The Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto - UPTEC supports the creation and development of business projects in several areas, ranging from the arts to sciences and technologies, both from national and international origin.

UPTEC is more than the adequate environment and space for innovation and company creation. UPTEC has a valuable role in bridging the gap between the knowledge generated at the university and the market. Its strategy is based on knowledge and incorporation of highly qualified personnel capable of spearheading business ventures based on new business models that are embodied in new models of economic and regional development. Since its creation in 2007, UPTEC has supported more than 860 business projects in different stages of maturity, ranging from teams developing their business idea, to startups and anchor projects, as well as corporations that establish their innovation center at UPTEC. Over 19 years, UPTEC contributed to the direct creation of

+3200 new jobs, 90% of which are highly qualified. In 2025 UPTEC hosted and supported 40 U.Porto spin-offs. All these spin-offs and other recently created companies are oriented into the global market - 57% of UPTEC companies' turnover are exports. UPTEC is also an increasingly multicultural center attracting people from more than 44 countries.
